Designer Gisele Ganne is part of a developing trend I find strangely positive: She has begun a collection of jewelry to commemorate all of the unhappy events in our lives. In her words, "We always say that happy moments are celebrated with jewelery, so I wanted to celebrate the sad moments which are also part of our life."

And of course, the pieces are absolutely breathtaking.

While I'm not sure it's always advisable to drop thousands and thousands of dollars on jewelry every time some big bummer happens in our lives (though sometimes, yeah, it totally is!), I do think our culture tends to pretend bad things don't happen rather than bringing them out into the open, sharing them and contemplating them with others, and then letting them go. And I like the idea of creativity in the face of disaster. So I'm digging this trend.
