BY LAND OF MUSIC
Last week was a good one for fans of triumphant, orchestral pop. Sweden's Jens Lekman and indie wunderkind Beirut both released great new albums ("Night Falls Over Kortedala" and "The Flying Club Cup", respectively.) If you're familiar with either band, you'll be getting pretty much what you'd except: Clever, catchy, tough-in-cheek tunes from Jens and grand, old-timey, beautiful pieces from Beirut. Here's something old and something new by each of these lovely artists.

Beirut - Nantes (from The Flying Club Cup)
Beirut - Elephant Gun (from Lon Gisland EP)

Jens Lekman - The Opposite of Hallelujah (from Night Falls Over Kortedala)
Jens Lekman - You Are The Light (from When I Said I Wanted To Be Your Dog)

More by both of these handsome young fellows on The Hype Machine.

The link to Beirut's website is broken. It looks like there's a spurious > at the start of the URL.

BTW, thanks for running Fabulist. It's great!

The Flying Club Cup is one of the best 2007 albums. No doubt, this Condon guy is talented.
Check out this post about his former project. He did some amazing music even before Beirut was formed.
