We wrote about Marjane Satrapi's stirring graphic novel, Persepolis, a while back. Hopefully by now you've picked it up, and hopefully by now you've discovered the wonders and pathos and marvels contained therein. Right? So now's your chance to get excited about the movie! That's right--there's a trailer. It's helpful if you speak French.

Check out the Myspace page (does everyone and everything have a Myspace page now?) here.

If I had known how clever and entertaining Marjane Satrapi's story was, I would have read both of the graphic novels long since. As it is, I'm ashamed to admit that it took the film teaser and excerpts to convince me. I hope I haven't lost so much of my librarian cred that I have to go back and work at Blockbuster again.

I read both graphic novels a while back and am really looking forward to this film - looks like they kept the stark, black and white style and hopefully none of the books' power is toned down.

I'm so grateful this movie is being made!! I have a feeling it will bring some happy awareness/understanding of the Middle East.. besides being really damn cute. ;)
