I like the idea of personal objects being imbued with the power of their owner. Overlaying the magical over the mundane, this ring I always wear carries my memory, my thoughts, clinging to some specific me-ness in the shape of its metal. To wear the ring is to be reminded of me, or maybe even gifted with the shadow of traits I possess, or things I have done.

I like the idea of this being true. Which makes these guitar string bracelets all the more interesting to me.

A variety of musicians donate their guitar strings, which then get made into a bracelet that you can purchase. (Proceeds go to charity.) So all that energy, music, fire and sweat from that man, or that woman, pulses through the strings into a talisman you can carry. Les Claypool. Baaba Maal. Ben Gibbard. Ziggy Marley. There, at your wrist.

Spooky, huh?
